March Workshops!

I hate posting twice on one day but I’m dreadfully late posting this info. The following are workshops I’ll be offering in March.  Please note that the Richmond workshop on 3/13 is free and that the registration deadline for the on-line workshop is Sunday, March 7th.

Scene CPR: The Sequel
March 13th, 2010
Richmond, Virginia

How can you avoid head hopping yet reveal a non-point of view character’s reaction?
How can you reveal emotion and move your plot forward all in the same scene?
How can you weave in motivation without slowing down the action of your story?
When is a scene not a scene?
When it’s a sequel.

Laurin Wittig will teach you the power of the four stage sequel and how to combine it with your scenes to create a story that keeps your readers turning the pages long into the night.

If you live anywhere near Richmond, Virginia, I’ll be presenting Scene CPR: The Sequel at the monthly meeting of Virginia Romance Writers.  This is a follow-up to my Scene CPR: Breathing Life into an Ailing Scene workshop, but it is not necessary to take the first one before taking this one.  This workshop is free.  For more information and directions to the workshop please visit the VRW web site.

Scene CPR: Breathing Life into an Ailing Scene
Revision is where you get the opportunity to craft the story you’ve worked long and hard to draft, but do you know where to start?  Do you need help with pacing?  Characterization?  Conflict?  Do you waver over whose point of view a scene should be in?  Laurin Wittig will show you a simple but powerful way to turn your ailing scene into a robust part of your story.   If you’ve ever written a scene only to have it lie gasping for breath on the page, Scene CPR is just what you need.
